Law minister in Kohat Bar

The Law mininster of Khyber Paktunkhwa Mr. Arshad Abdullah said the lawyer's community has given unlimited scrafice for the sake of Judiciary and Democracy in the country. He was speaking at the Bacha Khan Peace & Justice Award organised by Malgari Wakeelan of Kohat Bar. District Bar Kohat President Muhammad Riaz Advocate, Malgari Wakeelan President Masood ur Rehman & Provincial General Secretary Muhammad Rafiq Advocate, Sher Nawaz Advocate also speak on the occassion. The law minister said when ANP govt come to powers at that time the writ of govt was NIL at all locations. We started negotiation with Talaban in malakand division and agreed for implementation of Nizam Adal Regulation but it failed because Talaban were working for parallel govt. The minister announced grant for Judicial Complex in kohat and library in Kohat. Further he also announced a plot for Kohat Bar Club in KDA. Later on he distributed the awards in various people.

Boy & Girl killed in Gumbat area

In Kohat Gumbat area Siab a girl and a boy was killed due to illegal relationship. According to details in Dhok Meer Bahadur a girl and a boy Muhammad Ayaz were seen in illicit condition due to which they were killed on the spot by the father Muhammad Farooq and other relatives  Muhammad Shoaib and Adnan of the girls. An FIR was lodged at Gumbat police station against the killer by the brother of Muhammad Ayaz, Muhammad Niaz. The police are searching for the accused whom fled from the area.

Man died to blast in tanker

In Kohat at village Gumbat a man was killed due to fire in tanker. According to details a man Khursheed resident of Gumbat working as welder in his shop on Gumbat Road was working in a tanker when due to filling of gas in a tanker it blasted due to which the welder died on the spot and his father was critically injured.

Four killed in Karak separately

Four persons were killed and two others sustained injuries in separate incidents in the district on Sunday. Two persons were shot dead and two others sustained injuries when their enemies opened fire on them over a land dispute in Kot Banda area in Banda Daud Shah tehsil. The slain were identified as Muzaffar Khan and Mumtaz, residents of Kot Banda. Javed, brother of slain Muzaffar Khan lodged first information report (FIR) at the Terri police station against Gul Wali, Mir Ajab Khan and Ismail.In another incident, Mosam Khan allegedly killed his son Muhammadullah over some domestic issue in the jurisdiction of Takht Nusrati Police Station. Meanwhile, a student of grade-4 Sundas, daughter of Ihsanullah, was crushed to death by a speeding ambulance on Indus Highway. The father of the student, who is a teacher by profession, said that his daughter was crossing the Indus Highway at Shaheedan area when the ambulance hit her. She succumbed to her injuries on way to hospital.

Two rockets fired in Kohat

Militants fired two rockets at an oil field in Shakardarra area on Sunday, official sources said. However, it caused no loss. The sources said that two rockets fired by the militants from an undisclosed location fell near the oil field. Heavy police contingents rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area but there was no word on the arrest till filing of this report.

Election in Kohat bar are postponed

Pakistan bar Council has cancelled the decision of Provinical Bar Secretary regarding the reelection in Kohat and Manshere District Bar Councils due to bogus voting. Pakistan Bar Council Chairman Appeal Committee for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the appeal of newly elected bar president of Kohat Muhammad Riaz Advocate and General Secretary Imad Advocate ordered the provinicial bar council secretary Naeem Pervez to present the record within one week so that the decision should be taken regarding Kohat and Manshere Bar Councils. The Chariman has stopped the reelection in Kohat Bar Councils till further orders.

Accdident on Kohat Indus Highway

A vehicle coming to Kohat fell into to ditch. Two people were killed while two were injured. According to details the a vehicle coming from DI Khan to Kohat fell into deep ditch at Meeta Khel in Karak area on Indus Highway, due to which two persons Faheem and Ahmed Khan resident of Lachi were killed on the spot while two persons Rahim Dad and Haji Umar resident of Lachi were critically injured. They were taken to district hospital Karak in critical conditions.

Vehicle was targeted in Kohat, Driver killed two injured

In Kohat at village Kwasi Banda near Jerma one moving vehicle comes under attack from militants due to which driver of the vehicle murdered and the accomplices were injured. According to details a social worker of Kwasi Banda Sawab Gul was going to Hangu in vehicle No.PR-8972, when unknown militants hiding along the road starts firing on the vehicle due to which the driver Khursheed Khan died on the spot while Sawab Gul and Abdul Ghafar were injured. They were shifted to Kohat divisional hospital for treatment.
The Police started search in the area and several suspicious people were taken into custody for investigation.

One killed in band daud shah due to stone sliding

In the village Jatta Ismail Khel of Tehsil Banda Daud Shah in District Karak One man was killed and others were injured due to sliding of stone from Hill.According to details on Tuesday morning Hijrat Khan, Taj Muhammad, Shah Fahim and Maqsood resident of jatta Ismail Khel were loading stone on Tractor trolley from Hill when all of sudden a stone fell on them and Hijrat Khan died on the spot while other were severly injured they were rushed to hospital in critical conditions.

Abductors kill owner of filling station in Hangu

The owner of a filling station was killed when police tried to release him from his kidnappers in Hangu district on Sunday.




Sources said that unidentified armed persons kidnapped Qaziullah, the owner of Qazi Pump, and tried to shift him to their bastion. Police chased the kidnappers when they were informed about the incident, sources added.



They said that police engaged the armed persons near the mountains. The owner of the filling station was killed when his captors exchanged fire with police, sources said. They added that the armed persons managed to escape.

Kohat Bar election on 5th June 2010

The Kohat Bar Election result was cancelled and new date for reelceion was fixed as 5th June 2010 by Khyber PakhtunKhwa Bar Council member and Election Commissioner for Kohat Bar Mr. Muhammad Wasim Khan. Mr.Anwar Mahmood Afandi and Samiullah have been authorised to conduct the election in the Kohat Bar on 5th June 2010. According to another order issued by Secretary Provinical bar council Mr. Naeem Pervez, the election commissioner has been Mr.Anwar Mahmood Afandi Advocate instead of Mr, Muhammad Waseem Khan. Further the bar members were advised to please deposit their dues at the earliest.

Accdident on Kohat Indus Highway

One person was killed and another injured on Kohat Indus Highway on Thursday. According to details One out of control Shehzore Truck run over a person Saleem and killed him on the spot and another person Abdul Wahid was crtically injured near Orakzai Chowk on Kohat Bunnu Highway. The injured was shifted to hospital for medical treatment. Police arrested the driver of the trcuk but later release him on the settlement of issue between the parties.

Kohat bar rejects PBC decision on polls

The district bar has rejected the decision of the Provincial Bar Council declaring elections in Kohat null and void.




The district bar at its general body meeting presided over by Advocate Mohammad Riaz on Saturday took strong exception to the order of the executive committee of the Provincial Bar Council (PBC) that had termed the Kohat bar polls illegal.



The participants through unanimously passed resolutions also termed the PBC decision as malafide.



The general body rejected the voters list issued by the bar council alleging that it included the names of such people who were not even members of the district bar.



They said that the Kohat bar polls were held on the basis of a genuine voters’ list and the PBC had no jurisdiction to challenge it.



The members said that they would approach the highest forums against the PBC decision.



The participants asked the president of the Kohat Bar Association and his cabinet to continue its routine functions.



Advocate Riaz said that the general body of the Kohat bar had demanded transparent audit of the accounts of the PBC and suspension of the membership of Advocate Jalaluddin Khan who had been meddling in the district bar affairs illegally.



The Kohat bar also restricted the entry of Advocate Waseem Khan on the premises of the courts and warned him of serious consequences if he violated the decision.



The copies of the resolutions adopted at the meeting were sent to the chief justices of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the Peshawar High Court, chairmen of Pakistan and Peshawar Bar Councils as well as district and sessions judge, Kohat.

Forces to protect IDPs returning to Orakzai

Personnel of the law-enforcement agencies would be deployed on Kohat-Oblan road to ensure safe return of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) to their hometowns in Orakzai Agency, official sources said on Wednesday.




The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by the Commissioner Kohat division Khalid Umarzai about the strategy to open Kohat-Orakzai road through Oblan. Political Agent of Orakzai Agency Riaz Mehsud, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Kohat range Abdullah Khan, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Kifayatullah Khan, District Police Officer (DPO) Delawar Khan Bangash, Senior Superintendent of Police Hangu Abdul Majeed Afridi and high-ups of Pakistan Army were also present in the meeting.



Riaz Mehsud gave presentation about recent developments in Orakzai agency and strategy regarding safe repatriation of IDPs was reviewed. Commissioner Khalid Umarzai said that most areas of lower tehsil of Orakzai Agency had been cleared of the militants. He said that the road between Kohat and Orakzai agency was made secure for the safe passage of the IDPs to their hometowns.



The commissioner stressed on the elders of Orakzai to cooperate with security forces and political administration to restore peace in the area. Over 300 families of IDPs have returned to their homes in Storikhel in lower tehsil of Orakzai Agency, he added.

Boy killed in explosion and dead body found

10-year-old boy was killed at the Afghan refugees camp in Ghumkul village when an explosive device went off inside a house on Wednesday. Sources said Sher Muhammad was playing in his house when the explosion occurred. He was killed on the spot. Meanwhile, bomb disposal unit (BDU) officials defused a five-kilogram, remote-controlled bomb planted on the roadside near Jarma graveyard.

Body Found: A bullet-riddled body was found at Gurguri in Dhoda area on Wednesday. Sources said body of an unidentified person was found by the Billitang police in Gurguri village and was shifted to Liaqat Memorial Hospital, Kohat, for autopsy.

Ex-MNA offered conditional release in Kohat

Kohat Commissioner Kahlid Khan Umerzai has asked the detained former MNA, Shah Abdul Aziz, through a jirga to stop campaign against the foreign and national oil companies and submit sureties in this regard for his early release.




He was talking to a 20-member jirga led by MPA Malik Qasim Khan which called on at him at his office.



The participants of the jirga appealed to the commissioner to order release of former MNA. The meeting also discussed the role of the former MNA in many other controversial issues like that of Jamia Hafsa, the murder a foreign geologist by Taliban in which he was on bail and recently hurling threats to the foreign companies working in his home district.



The MNA was arrested few days ago near Bannu under 18 MPO for disturbing peace and creating law and order situation in Karak district where he had been threatening the Hungarian MOL and national OGDCL companies to give rights to local people otherwise he would launch an armed protest movement against them.



Later, two persons were assigned the task to meet Mr Aziz in jail and know about his response to the conditional release offered by the Kohat commissioner.
