Protesters storm grid station in Kohat

Angry protesters on Wednesday stormed a grid station in Kohat district and damaged its main door, while protesting against long hours of load shedding and demanded WAPDA and PESCO immediately end the unscheduled power cuts in the district.
Locals attacked the grid station on Pindi Road, damaging its main door.
They said the long hours of power outages especially during Sehri and Iftar in Ramazan is unfair. After making their demand of ending unannounced load shedding the protesters eventually dispersed.

Blast in Kohat

An explosion occurred near the city branch of the Utility Stores Corporation here on Wednesday night.

“The explosives were packed in a pressure cooker that was kept near the utility store and the blast occurred late in the night,” said a police official. Though no casualty was reported, the utility store was gutted after it caught fire, he added. He said the firefighters were trying to extinguish the fire.

Five die in Kohat road accident

Five persons were killed and 10 others sustained injuries in a road accident near Friendship Tunnel on Friday.

Police said the passenger bus was heading to Hangu from Peshawar when it collided with a truck near Kohat Tunnel on Indus Highway. Five persons were killed on the spot and 10 others were wounded, they added.

The dead were identified as Nawaz Ali, Iqbal Hussain, Zulfiqar Hussain, Noor Sahib and Muhammad Waseem who were killed on the spot while the injured included Shamsur Rehman, Farooq, Abdul Basit, Muhammad Shakeel, Malbaz Khan, Aqil Badshah, Faisal, Muhammadullah, Sherbaz and Tariq Khan.

They were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Kohat where condition of some of the injured was stated to be critical.

CROWD ATTACK GRID STATION IN KOHAT

The angry mob stormed a grid station and broke the main door while protesting against relentless load shedding in Kohat on Wednesday.
According to reports, the local residents were protesting against the incessant load shedding and attacked a grid station on Pindi Road and damaged the main door of the station.
The demonstrators, while expressing their agony, told that 20 hours of power failure during the holy month of Ramazan is unjust with the people, and demanded to end the unannounced load shedding on priority basis.
