Councillor found hanging from ceiling fan

KOHAT, June 16: Dhyan Chand, a minority councillor, committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan in his house here on Tuesday, family sources said.

However, police said that marks of torture were found on the body of the councillor during autopsy. Police said that they had widened the scope investigations after the autopsy. Mr Chand was elected councillor on minority seat from Urban II union council of Kohat.

The family members told police that the councillor committed suicide after a fight in his home. Police said that some evidences at the scene of crime and postmortem report contradicted the stance taken by the family members of the councillor and caused suspicious.

The city police registered a case and started investigations to dig out the real cause of the councillor’s death.
