A cop was killed and another sustained injuries when militants opened fire on a police party near the New Bus Terminal on Saturday evening, sources said.
The sources said that a Rider Squad of the Mills Area Police Post was on patrol when militants opened fire on it, killing Constable Basheer and injuring Constable Tanveer.
Following the incident, the police cordoned off the area but no arrest was reported yet.
Meanwhile, the police found a body in the waiting room of the Bus Terminal here on Saturday.
The sources said that acting on a tip-off, the police reached the spot and took the body of Ashraf Khan, son of Khani and resident of Mianwali district, into custody. The police also found a pistol near the body and it was presumed that the man committed suicide.
