A man was killed and seven other persons sustained injuries when mortar shells fired by the militants hit houses in the Akhorwal area in Darra Adamkhel on Wednesday, official sources said. The sources said militants fired 25 mortar shells at the Atariwal village in Akhorwal area. One of the shells hit a house, killing Lal Faqir. Seven other persons sustained critical injuries in the attack. Some of the injured were identified as Muhammad Iqbal and Dr Shahid Khan. Security forces targetted the hideouts of the militants in the hilly area of Khormatang village but there were yet no reports of casualties.
