Imtiaz assures resolution of lawyers’ problems

Peshawar—Deputy Speaker, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi has assured all-out efforts to be made for the resolution of the problems of Kohat District Bar Association on priority basis to bring maximum mitigation in their difficulties.

He expressed these views while talking to president, Kohat District Bar Association, Aman Khan Bangash here in Speaker Chamber the other day.

The Deputy Speaker said that being a lawyer it is a matter of honour that the problems of lawyers’ community will resolve by him, saying he will play his due role in this regard.

He assured leaving no stone unturned in the resolution of the problems facing the district bar Kohat and will be taken up at any level.Earlier, president, Kohat District Bar Association, Aman Khan Bangash held a meeting with Deputy Speaker and besides mutual affairs discussed problems faced by the association with him.—APP

Kohat Bar poll result declared invalid

A day after declaring advocate Malik Iqbal elected unopposed as president of the Kohat District Bar Association, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council (KPBC) on Tuesday revoked the election as invalid and called for fresh polls on March 5.

Malik Iqbal was declared the winner on Monday after the nomination papers of his lone rival advocate Abdur Rauf, who is also president of Kohat PPP, were rejected on the charges of corruption leveled against him by the former.

Senior lawyers, including Anwar Afandi, Kohat PML-N president, and Mr Rauf told Dawn that the KPBC member, advocate Swab Khan, who supervised the election, called for fresh polls after discovering that the objections to the nomination of Mr Rauf were baseless.

A fresh notification issued here set Feb 26 as the date for submission of nomination papers for contesting various offices of the Kohat District Bar Association.

The Law mininster of Khyber Paktunkhwa Mr. Arshad Abdullah said the lawyer's community has given unlimited scrafice for the sake of Judiciary and Democracy in the country. He was speaking at the Bacha Khan Peace & Justice Award organised by Malgari Wakeelan of Kohat Bar. District Bar Kohat President Muhammad Riaz Advocate, Malgari Wakeelan President Masood ur Rehman & Provincial General Secretary Muhammad Rafiq Advocate, Sher Nawaz Advocate also speak on the occassion. The law minister said when ANP govt come to powers at that time the writ of govt was NIL at all locations. We started negotiation with Talaban in malakand division and agreed for implementation of Nizam Adal Regulation but it failed because Talaban were working for parallel govt. The minister announced grant for Judicial Complex in kohat and library in Kohat. Further he also announced a plot for Kohat Bar Club in KDA. Later on he distributed the awards in various people.
