After eating chicken Shawarma at a Fast Food Point at Kohat Canntt, six of a family fell prey to food poisoning on Wednesday. A resident of Kohat Cantt Mr. Skaheel Ahmad, accountant WAPDA said that his six family members took fast food from a local fast food point and after eating that food all of his family members who had taken Shawarma were badly affected and were shifted to the local hospital. He requested the Executive of Cantt Board Kohat to take immediate action against those selling unhealthy and contaminated edibles in the cantt area.

Waterborne diseases on the rise in Kohat

Scores of people, including children and women, were admitted to different hospitals of Kohat division after being affected by conjunctivitis (an infectious eye disease) and other waterborne diseases here, doctors said on Tuesday.
They said that there were no arrangements to drain out stagnant flood and rainwater of Kohat city and its adjoining areas, which had caused the outbreak of eye and water-borne diseases. They said that around 4,900 people were suffering from eye-related diseases while 3,100 affectees of waterborne disease had been admitted to different hospitals.
A child specialist at Children and Women Hospital Kohat Dr Mehar Ali said that conjunctivitis and other waterborne diseases had broken out after the recent floods. He said they were receiving 150 to 200 children affected by such disease on a daily basis. An eye specialist at District Headquarters Hospital Dr Irfanullah said that conjunctivitis had spread very rapidly in the area.

TMA Employees of Kohat for Pilgrimage

Kohat tehsil nazim announced on Monday to send two employees of Tehsil Municipal Administration for pilgrimage on the government expenses this year.
Addressing a press conference, the out going tehsil nazim, Dilbar Khan, briefed journalists about the achievements made during his period and claimed that he had turned the bankrupt institution into self reliant organisation.
He said that when they took over the TMA had no money to pay salaries and had to rent tractors and called fire tenders from PAF and Kohat Tunnel. But now the TMA was self sufficient and had its own fire brigade, tractors, trolleys and bank balance enough for clearing the electricity bills and paying salaries for one year, he added.
He also announced a grant of Rs200,000 for Kohat Press Club.
