Police seized a vehicle and recovered arms from a van on the Indus highway in Kohat and arrested two men suspected of smuggling arms to North Waziristan, officials said.
“Initial investigations revealed both suspects were involved in arms smuggling to the militancy-infected North Waziristan area and Punjab,” Kohat police spokesman Fazle Naeem told Central Asia Online. They are being interrogated, he added.
The police recovered 28 Kalashnikovs, 53 pistols, 70 magazines and more than 5,000 rounds from the van at a toll plaza check-post. The suspects were identified only as Zubair and Tahir.
