MNA’s brother surrenders to police

KOHAT: The brother of the MNA charged in a case of torturing and manhandling doctors presented himself before police for arrest following strike of the medical staff of all the hospitals here on Saturday.

Earlier the doctors of the KDA Divisional Medical Hospital, Women and Children Hospital, private health clinics and paramedics observed complete strike against the alleged manhandling of two doctors by the brother of the MNA, Pir Zakir Shah on Friday night. They alleged that the hujra of the MNA located close to the KDA hospital had become a den of criminals, mostly Afghan refugees, who roam in the area displaying heavy arms.The protest meeting held to condemn the incident was addressed by the president of the Malgari Doctoran, Dr Mohammad Safdar. In his speech, he criticised the administration for not taking any action against the accused and their patronisers. Dr Ibne Ali, Dr Luqman of Pakistan Islamic Doctor’s Association, the victim, Dr Rehman Afridi, and chairman of paramedics association, Haji Shabbir Hussain also spoke against the ‘hooliganism’ of the criminals on the occasion.

The students and staff of the Kohat Institute of Medical Sciences and teachers association of Kohat University of Science and Technology also participated in the strike against the MNA.

Later, in the afternoon the brother of the MNA, Pir Zakir Shah presented himself to the Jungle Khel Police and was sent to the lock up. He was hiding in Islamabad and was sent by his brother MNA Pir Dilwar Shah to surrender to the police
