Carjacking bid foiled, 5 arrested in Karak

KARAK: Local police Tuesday foiled a carjacking bid on Indus Highway and arrested five alleged car-lifters after an exchange of fire for some time.

The sources said a vehicle (LPT-1018) was intercepted by five carjackers near a petrol pump on Indus Highway and was snatched from the driver Gul Zahid son of Muneerullah. Later, the driver informed Rescue-15 who chased the criminals and exchanged fire with them in the jurisdiction of Domail police station in Bannu district.

However, after some time the police overpowered the car-lifters and arrested five accused. The arrested persons were identified as Farmanullah, son of Rahim Khan, Hazrat Ali, son of Ruqibar, Baitullah, son of Sanaullah, Sher Nawaz, son of Sher Andaz, and Sufyanullah, son of Baitullah, residents of Bannu district.

District police officer, Karak, Danishwar Khan announced cash prizes and gave commendation certificates to the police party.
